The CCII President General-Elect, Barrister Ajeniyi Ajewole, who led other executive members to the palace, while addressing the first class monarch and other high chiefs present at the palace, said the CCII under his leadership will rally the support of all Ibadan indigenes home and in the Diaspora to ensure quick completion of the ongoing new Olubadan Palace.
Barr. Ajewole narrated how Olubadan supported his administration as the President of the Federation of Ibadan Students Union (FIBSU) in 1986 to construct the statue of Bashorun Oluyole located at the roundabout of Beere area of Ibadan.
“Kabiyesi gave me 40 bags of cement then and Chief Eddy Oyewole also facilitated planting of flowers around the statue. And we also acknowledged many donors of the project.
“Kabiyesi, by the grace of God, you will be the first Olubadan to occupy the new Olubadan Palace because we will complete it within six months of our administration.
“We shall rally round all Ibadan indigenes home and abroad to donate generously towards the project.
“Also we will engage the youths in all the family compounds in Ibadan to stop social vices
“Meanwhile we also plan to establish CCII Microfinance Bank to boost the trading activities of our market women among so many other.” Ajewole stated.
Earlier during the event, Balogun of Ibadanland, High Chief Owolabi Olakulehin charged the newly elected CCII executives to be transparent with the Council’s funds as past administration failed to fulfil its promises. He admonished them to put all their affairs in the hands of God before embarking on it.
Also the Osi Balogun of Ibadanland, High Chief Lateef Adebimpe promised palace collaboration with the CCII to ensure completion of the new palace. He narrated how Olubadan-in-Council had to take back the palace from the CCII when there was no progress on the project.
Meanwhile, the Ekerin Olubadan, High Chief Hamidu Ajibade also stated that the palace was not impressed on how the CCII handled the new palace project, stressing that it was the reason for its withdrawal from the Council.
However, the High Chiefs unanimously promised that all the traditional councils had shown commitment to the project and would be ready to partner with the new CCII team to ensure early completion of the new palace.
While speaking on behalf of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, his younger brother and Oyo South Senatorial District Senator, Dr. Kola Balogun urged the newly elected CCII executives to work assiduously to restore the good reputation of the Council. He also promised to support the council in order to actualize the completion of the new Ibadan Palace in a very short period.
