I Muslim Pilgrims from Oyo State who left for the Holy land, Mecca have lamented over the poor welfare package by the Oyo State government.
The Pilgrims who left for Saudi Arabia on Friday, June 17, 2022, have raised alarm over the inability of the Oyo State government to make available, their Basic Traveling Allowance, BTA.
OYOMIND gathered that there have been several videos of the pilgrims who alleged the state government, after which another video surfaced where the payment of the BTA was confirmed.
In another recent video, one of the pilgrims accused the state government of coercion, that the video where he confirmed the full payment of the BTA was done under duress.
According to him, the government only gave them $200 as against the general believe that they had collected the whole of the $800.
“In contrary to the earlier released video that the state government had settled all the pilgrims, we were only given $200 instead of the usual $800 which is our money.
“What birthed the earlier released video was because we weren’t given a dime before, some of us were happy that we can lay our hands on something.
“We were given $200 out of our right and we are on our way to Mecca. The video I made earlier was done under duress, I tender an apology, I was only told to lie that we have been settled” he said.
