Ambassador (Dr.) Gbenga Clement Obilade, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Gbenga Obilade’s Foundation, has urged Nigerians to rally behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in 2027, describing his achievements in office as “unmatched, transformational, and worthy of continuity.”
Obilade made the call at a high-profile empowerment event organised by his foundation, attended by political leaders, traditional rulers, religious figures, youth groups, donors, and media representatives. The event centred on strengthening community development and expanding access to opportunity across the South-West.
Delivering a keynote address titled “Building Bridges, Breaking Barriers: The Power of Community Empowerment,” Obilade said the foundation remains committed to creating pathways for education, economic advancement, and social welfare, ensuring that no individual is left behind.
He noted that empowerment must be intentional and sustained, adding that the foundation’s efforts aim to inspire transformation at both community and national levels.
He stated that the foundation has recorded significant progress in providing scholarships, mentorship programmes, and educational resources for young people. According to him, education remains the most important tool for unlocking human potential.
“When a child receives quality education, a whole community gains a leader, a builder, a reformer,” he said.
Obilade also highlighted the foundation’s economic empowerment initiatives, including skills acquisition programmes, entrepreneurship training, and access to microfinance for small and medium business owners. These interventions, he noted, have helped many families rise above poverty and build sustainable livelihoods.
In addition, he emphasised the foundation’s commitment to social welfare through health promotion, community support, and initiatives that strengthen social cohesion.
“A healthy community is a strong community,” he added, stressing that dignity, inclusion, and care are essential for building lasting progress.
Obilade praised President Tinubu for what he described as bold reforms and developmental strides that have reshaped key sectors of the country. He listed a series of achievements by the Tinubu administration, including the rehabilitation of 1,200 primary healthcare centres, the establishment of six oncology centres, and major infrastructure projects such as the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Road and the dualisation of the Lagos–Shagamu Expressway.
He also pointed to the reconstruction of the Oyo–Ogbomoso–Ilorin Road, recapitalisation of the Bank of Agriculture with ₦1.5 trillion, restoration of major Lagos bridges, and establishment of the Federal University of Agriculture and Technology in Okeho, Oyo State. Education-focused initiatives such as tuition-free learning in Federal Technical Colleges and the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) were also referenced as landmark reforms.
“These are not ordinary achievements,” Obilade said.
“They are symbols of visionary leadership. They are bridges of progress that will shape generations to come. This is why one good turn deserves another.”
He argued that sustaining the momentum created by President Tinubu requires his re-election in 2027. According to him, Nigeria cannot afford to lose the gains already recorded under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
“The reward for good work is more work. President Tinubu’s journey is not complete. His vision must continue. We must not stop halfway,” he declared.
Obilade further stressed the need for the South-West to remain united in support of Tinubu, describing him as “a son of the soil whose impact has been felt across every part of the region.” He urged the people to commit to a future defined by stability, growth, and shared prosperity.
He added that beyond supporting Tinubu, efforts must be directed toward building new leaders who will sustain the legacy of service and visionary governance. He affirmed that the Gbenga Obilade’s Foundation will continue to play a critical role in grooming young leaders, mentoring them, and fostering a culture of community-first leadership.
Obilade reaffirmed his dedication to driving empowerment and national development.
“I pledge to keep building bridges of opportunity and breaking barriers of poverty,” he said.
“Together, we will create a South-West and a Nigeria where no one is left behind.”
