Support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second term ambition received a major boost on Saturday as a political support group, South East Progressive Ambassadors (SEPA), was officially launched in Abuja.
The event, which brought together coordinators from all five states in the region, party stakeholders and community leaders, marked the formal unveiling of a grassroots mobilisation platform aimed at strengthening Tinubu’s political base in the South East ahead of the 2027 general elections.
One of the invited guests and speakers, Dr. Sulaimon Lateef Adegboyega, said the group was born out of a desire to give voice to people in the region who believe in Tinubu’s leadership and are ready to work for the success of his second term.
“We are not here to shout slogans or dance to music. We are here to organise, to mobilise, and to deliver results,” Dr. Adegboyega said.
He described President Tinubu as a leader who has shown courage in taking difficult decisions, citing the removal of fuel subsidy, reforms in the forex market, and focus on infrastructure as examples of bold leadership in action.
“Whether you like him or not, you can’t deny the fact that Tinubu is a man of structure and vision. He took Lagos to another level and now he’s laying a new foundation for a better Nigeria,” he said.
Dr. Adegboyega, who noted that many critics have been pushing false narratives about the administration, said the new group would counter misinformation and take the message of reform directly to the grassroots.
“We will not sit back and allow those who failed this country to come back with sweet promises. We will go town to town, market to market, and house to house to tell the truth. President Tinubu deserves another term, and we will work for it.” He said.
The group also promised to begin voter mobilisation and civic engagement activities across the region, urging the people of the South East to be part of a national agenda that places development above politics.
“We believe in a united Nigeria where every region is carried along. SEPA is here to show that the South East is part of the future, not just the past,” he added.
The group said it would focus on grassroots mobilisation, digital awareness, and door-to-door engagement in support of President Tinubu’s policies and his second-term bid.
