A Senior Special Assistant to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, Lere Olayinka, has dismissed the purported expulsion of his principal by a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), describing those behind the move as unserious and intoxicated.
Reacting to reports that some PDP stakeholders met in Ibadan and announced Wike’s expulsion, Olayinka ridiculed the gathering, suggesting it was nothing more than an early December party disguised as a political meeting.
According to him, the individuals involved were merely enjoying themselves and not in the right frame of mind to make decisions of political consequence.
“They went to Ibadan to start dirty December in November,” Olayinka said in a Facebook post.
“When people decide to start their own dirty December in November, one can’t but ignore whatever comes out of their mouths. They gathered in Ibadan to do a social party, enjoyed themselves and got intoxicated, they are free to say anything.”
Olayinka further stressed that the pronouncements made at the Ibadan gathering hold no weight and should not be taken seriously.
His reaction adds to the growing controversy and internal tensions within the PDP, as multiple party leaders continue to distance themselves from the reported expulsion moves targeting top figures, including the FCT Minister.
