Engineer Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe has emerged the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) candidate for Oyo South Senatorial district in the forthcoming general election in 2023.
Tegbe, in a statement issued after the primary election commended Governor Seyi Makinde’s leadership style and that of other party leaders in the state for their endorsement and utmost support before and after the primary election.
He further thanked the delegates and party members for the mandate given to him while he promised an unwavering commitment to the people of Oyo South Senatorial District and Oyo State at large.
He said, “First of all, I give glory to Almighty God who made this day possible and brought all of us here to witness this occasion.
I’d also love to thank His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, for his leadership of our party and the state. I thank all party leaders across the state and especially in the 9 Local Government of Oyo South for your endorsement of my candidacy, which has been affirmed today. Like Henry Clay said All legislation is founded upon the principle of mutual concession.
“Let me also thank the delegates, who have come from far and near to take part in this process, especially the delegates from Ibarapa who had to travel very early to be here in time.
“Finally, my most sincere appreciation goes to every member of Oyo State PDP for the warm welcome they have accorded me since I joined this party. I believe strongly, that under the able leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde, we will continue to grow in leaps and bounds.
“From time immemorial, Oyo state has been known to set the pace in various aspects of nationhood. From the sophisticated parliamentary governance system of the OyoMesi to the ‘five unbreakable bound of Ibadan’, our high standard and resolve for setting the pace are well known in the history books.
“In our country today, one cannot underestimate the key role of the legislature in rescuing our dear country and returning her to the path of development. More than ever, it has become imperative for us as a country to chart a new course for socio-economic development. As your Senator (come 2023 by God’s grace), I will work with other National Assembly members to make laws that will impact the lives of ordinary Nigerians.
