Senatorial hopeful, Mogaji Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe has charged Students to obtain valuable skills neccesary to make them employable and relevant in today’s world.
Tegbe made this charge as part of a congratulatory message delivered during the inauguration ceremony of the new leadership of the Federation of Oyo State Students Union (FOSSU) National Body, which held on the 22nd, June at Western Hall, Oyo State House of Assembly complex.
He noted, “We live in a dynamic world, as such things are constantly changing. The past 2 decades have brought major changes in education, and the necessary skills set required to function in today’s job market. Nigerian students cannot afford to be left behind.
With my extensive experience in management, technology and human resources spanning over 3 decades, I can say that there has been increased emphasis on skills an individual posseses, rather than the class of degree on the certificate. I therefore charge students in Oyo state and beyond to acquire valuable skills needed to stay relevant in a fast changing world.
He added that students could use this period of nationwide strike action to explore internship opportunities relevant to their courses and/or life goals. They should also take advantage of short courses and certification, some of which are available for free online. He pledged his support in this regard
“Before I ventured into politics, I have always supported many youth and student bodies through the Tegbe Foundation. I hereby reiterate my commitment in this regard, especially on programmes targeted at the overall development of young minds”, he concluded.
