Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has settled for his Deputy Chief of Staff, and former House of Assembly Member, Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle ‘Don’, as the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the upcoming Ibadan North federal constituency bye-election.

This was revealed during a meeting of aspirants with the Governor on Friday night.

Recall that INEC has scheduled the forthcoming rerun to hold on 16 August, 2025 following the demise of Late Honourable Musiliu Olaide Akinremi who died in July 10, 2024.

Don as Oyekunle is fondly called, was picked ahead of Olanrewaju Sarumi, the PDP candidate in 2023, Hon. Adeyinka Adeniyi Bibire, Hon. Waheed Adeniyi Akanbi ‘Biiro’ and Taiwo Salami.

To pacify other aspirants who were dropped for Oyekunle, Makinde has promised to them with appointments which will be announced soon.
