Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has expressed his disappointment over the removal of subsidy by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s led Federal Government.
Makinde made this dissatisfaction known during the 2024 Inter-Faith Service programme at State Secretariat on Tuesday.
Recall that President Tinubu during his inaugural speech on May 29. 2023 announced the removal of fuel subsidy.
While addressing the civil servants, Makinde said that the removal of fuel subsidy is untimely and has caused dislocations to Nigerians as proper plans were not put in place to provide succor to them.
According to him, “One thousand naira has now become a big deal to a common Nigerian because they won’t be able to get more than a loaf of bread with it.
“Government exists to bring peace and convenience to citizens who have trooped out during election period to perform their civic right”.
President Bola Tinubu in August, 2023 approved N5 billion each to all state governors to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy in their respective states.
