PHOTOS: UI VC Commissions Projects in Obafemi Awolowo Hall

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Abel Idowu Olayinka has officially commissioned three different projects in one of the female halls of residence, Obafemi Awolowo Hall.

In a statement released by the University’s Directorate of Public Communication, Prof. Olayinka on Monday, 13th July 2020 commissioned the Obafemi Hall Orchard, Ornamental Fish Pond, and Amazon garden which were spearheaded by the Hall management.

The Vice-Chancellor in his speech appreciated the leadership of the Hall for the effort to resolve the numerous challenges faced by the hall and the ability to provide security for students and property.

Commending the commitment of the hall management to further equip the students and increase their chances of elevation, he noted that it is a good legacy to leave a place “very much better than we found it by being resourceful”.

In her welcome address, the Hall Warden, Dr. Adedoyin Aguoru informed that the projects will serve to benefit not only the occupants of the hall but also for the students of the University of Ibadan.

The Hall Mistress, Prof Helen Labeodan in her remark, expressed her delights at seeing the projects coming to limelight despite the various challenges posed by the lockdown. In her words, “it was a dream come through”.

The Majority Leader, Obafemi Awolowo Hall, Miss Iyanu Komolafe gave the vote of thanks.

Present at the occasion were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof Kayode Adebowale; Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof Adebola Ekanola; Registrar, Mrs. Olubunmi Faluyi ably represented by the Deputy Registrar, Distance Learning Centre, Mrs. Francisca Ayodele; Bursar, Dr. Micheal Alatise; University Librarian, Dr. Helen Komolafe-Opadeji;Dean of Students, Prof. Keye Abiona; Director, works and Maintenance, Engr Olufemi Adetolu; Deputy Registrar (Vice-Chancellor’s Office), Mr. Oluwole Dada; and the Director, Directorate of Public Communication, Mr. Olatunji Oladejo.
