The Chairman of Ogo-Oluwa West Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Odo Oba, Honourable Ajala Abraham Onaolapo in his attempt to prioritize agriculture has empowered two hundred farmers in his domain.
The empowerment programme was organized to focus on the reduction of the hunger rate in rural areas and assist the farmers who are into small scale farming before the rainy season commences.
Equipment like fertilizer, sprayer weed control of different types were disbursed to the farmers.
According to him “Small scale farmers at the rural area are the best hope for increasing land productivity and crop diversity to feed a growing world”.
Emulating the agricultural plan of the governor of Oyo State, Hon. Ajala had recognized that the food system needs to be reimagined with long-term productivity.
He further cited the initiative of Governor Makinde who organized youth empowerment in agriculture and send them to Nassarawa state for proper training.
