Amofin Beulah Adeoye has joined sons and daughters of Oke-Ogun to felicitate with Mr. Femi Adeyanju, Deputy Chairman of Oke-Ogun Development Consultative Forum (ODCF) as he clocked 70 years.

Amofin Adeoye in his birthday message to Mr. Adeyanju said seventy years is not merely a measure of age but testimony to impact, resilience and endurance relevance. Amofin Adeoye described Mr. Adeyanju as the son of Oke-Ogun, that stands as a bridge between generations, a voice of reason in moments of tension, and a pillar of wisdom for the emancipation of Oke-Ogun zone.

The Ipapo-born legal icon hailed Mr Adeyanju’s leadership at the Oke-Ogun Development Consultative Forum. Amofin Adeoye said his leadership has strengthened dialogue, promoted unity and fostered a culture of mutual respect among diverse stakeholders across the 10 LGAs.

Amofin Adeoye remarked that he has drawn immense inspiration from Mr. Adeyanju’s calm disposition, strategic insight and commitment to justice and equity. Amofin Adeoye added that Mr. Adeyanju has consistently demonstrated that true leadership is not about noise, but about thoughtful engagement, patient listening and courageous decision-making.

“At 70, Mr Adeyanju remains intellectually vibrant and morally steadfast, mentoring young leaders beyond Oke-Ogun zone and guide public discourse with clarity and depth”.

Amofin Adeoye prayed that the Almighty grants Mr. Adeyanju renewed strength, sound health and many more years of purposeful service.

The Bashorun Musulumi of Ibadan, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Olayode Iyiola, has extended warm greetings to Muslims across Oyo State, Nigeria, and the global Ummah as the holy month of Ramadan commences.

In a goodwill message released from his office, Alhaji Iyiola described Ramadan as a sacred period of spiritual renewal, self-discipline, and renewed devotion to Almighty Allah, calling on the faithful to embrace the values of patience, humility, charity, and peaceful coexistence.

He urged Muslims to use the fasting period to strengthen their relationship with Allah through prayers, recitation of the Qur’an, and acts of kindness toward the less privileged in society. According to him, the essence of Ramadan goes beyond abstaining from food and drink, but extends to purifying the heart, promoting unity, and fostering compassion among neighbours irrespective of religious or ethnic differences.

The Islamic leader also appealed to community members to maintain harmony and support one another, noting that the blessings of the holy month are maximized when society reflects love, tolerance, and mutual respect.

Alhaji Iyiola prayed for Allah’s mercy, forgiveness, and abundant rewards for all Muslims observing the fast, while asking God to grant peace, stability, and prosperity to Ibadanland, Oyo State, and Nigeria at large.

He concluded by wishing the Muslim faithful a spiritually fulfilling and peaceful Ramadan.

An Oba of another border village, in Surulere LGA, Iresa-Adu, Oyo state has now added his voice to those appealing to the Governor of Oyo State to resolve the vacant throne of Aresa-Adu of Iresa-Adu, which has been vacant for nearly 8years.

His Royal Highness, Oba Lasisi Olagbemileke Oladimeji is a major PDP Chieftain in Ogbomosho Zone before his ascension to the throne in 2023 as the Aranyin of Iranyin land. Oba Lasisi Oladimeji is one of the foremost Oba in Surulere LGA, Oyo state. Irayin is a boundary village on Aresa-Adu land that shares boundary with Ifon, Osun state, and has been subjected to boundary disputes with Ifon on multiple occasions.

The Aranyin of Iranyin in his statement appealed to the Governor of Oyo State. He referenced how Governor Seyi Makind have resolved Chieftaincy matters in Ibadan, Oyo, and many other towns in Oyo State. He further appealed to Governor Makinde to help resolve that of Aresa-Adu of Iresa-Adu throne as well.

“Governor Makinde has proven to be a Governor who listens to the people. He has resolved more Chieftaincy matters than any sitting Governor of Oyo State. That is why we are appealing to him to help us resolve that of Aresa-Adu too”.

Oba Oladimeji said he is an Aresa-Adu bloodline himself and has ancestral authority over the crisis. Therefore, he is now appealing for the need to install Aresa-Adu of Iresa-Adu who is a first-class monarch in Yoruba history.

“Besides being an Oba on Iresa land, I am personally a member of the Aresa Chieftaincy family. So, resolving the Aresa-Adu throne is personal to me. You cannot tell the Aranyin history without telling the history of Aresa”.

Oba Oladimeji was a PDP Party Chieftain in the 5 Local Governments of Ogbomoso zone, and Oyo State at large. Oba Lasisi Oladimeji was highly instrumental in the 2019 and 2023 PDP election successes and a key force behind PDP winning one of the very few House of Representatives in Oyo state. Notable is the Federal House of Representative currently representing Surulere and Ogooluwa Federal Constituency, Honourable Ojo Sunday Makanjuola.

Oba Oladimeji, emphasized that “there are various vacant Kings and Baales across border towns and villages on Aresa-Adu lands. As a result of land encroachment and great need to coordinate and combat insecurity for towns and villages which also include Iranyin, a paramount Aresa-Adu is required”.

Recent news report shows that some criminal elements are crawling into Oyo State through border towns and villages of the state. This assertion is further proved by the recent arrest of Cattle Rustlers in Iresa-Adu by the Oyo State Police Command in January 2026.

Oba Lasisi Oladimeji, expressed his sadness over the matter, he said, “I raised this concerns about the vacant Aresa-Adu throne and security lapses when the Governor last visited Surulere Local Government at the palace of the Olugbon of Orile-Igbon in January 2026”.

Governor Seyi Makinde visited Ogbomosho zone January 2026, in a show of solidarity with Oloka town in Orire local government which is close to Iresa-Adu over the recent deadly bandits attack on forest guards.

Oba Aranyin said his Excellency Governor Seyi Makinde has displayed good intentions in his time in office. He said Governor Makinde have used executive power to resolve many vacant Oba stools in Oyo State that could have led to years of vacant thrones. He however appealed for the Aresa-Adu throne not to be left out.

“We have many towns under Aresa-Adu with crowned Obas and Baales that have existed since several centuries ago. Myself, I am the 21st Aranyin of Iranyin.  But how can I be proud when the main monarch of our land is not enthroned.

Oba Ladimeji prayed for the Oyo State government at large and emphasized his strong belief that Governor Seyi Makinde is a Governor of the people and believes that the Governor will act swiftly and decisively on any crisis in Oyo state.

Air travellers in Oyo State and neighbouring regions will soon have access to international connectivity from the state capital, as the first direct airline service between Ibadan and London is scheduled to commence operations today, 18th February 2026 at the upgraded Samuel Ladoke Akintola International Airport Alakia Ibadan while some are also scheduled for 23rd, 24th, and 25th of this month.

The development marks a significant milestone for the Ladoke Akintola International Airport, Ibadan, positioning the city among Nigeria’s emerging international aviation hubs and reducing dependence on Lagos for long-haul departures.

Industry stakeholders say the route is expected to ease travel stress for passengers in the South-West corridor, particularly residents of Oyo, Osun, Ogun, Kwara and parts of Ondo states, who currently endure long road journeys to access international flights at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.

Officials familiar with the project noted that the new service will enhance economic activity, boost trade links, and promote diaspora engagement, especially among business travellers and families with ties to the United Kingdom.

The flight operations are also projected to stimulate tourism and investment inflow into Oyo State, while strengthening the airport’s status following recent upgrades to meet international aviation standards.

Aviation analysts describe the route as strategically important, citing the large population of UK-bound travellers from the region and the growing commercial relevance of Ibadan as a metropolitan centre.

More operational details, including flight frequency and ticketing structure, are expected to be announced by the airline and aviation authorities ahead of the inaugural flight.
