A former Board Member of the Nigeria Geological Survey Agency, Ishola Akeem Adetoyese, has congratulated the wife of the late former Governor of Oyo State, Dr. (Mrs.) Florence Ajimobi, on her appointment as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Austria by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the official posting of 65 ambassadors-designate to various diplomatic missions across the world, including the United Nations, in a move aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s foreign relations and diplomatic presence.

According to a press release issued on Friday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the appointments comprise 31 career diplomats and 34 non-career ambassadors. The ambassadors-designate were earlier confirmed by the Nigerian Senate in December.

Among the prominent postings is Fatima Florence Ajimobi, wife of the late former Abiola Ajimobi, who has been deployed to Austria as Nigeria’s ambassador.

Other notable non-career ambassadors include former University of Ibadan Vice Chancellor and Minister of Health Isaac Folorunso Adewole to Canada, former presidential aide Reno Omokri to Mexico, former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode to Germany, and former Inspector-General of Police Solomon Arase (Lateef Kayode Are) to the United States.

President Tinubu has directed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs should immediately commence the induction programme for the ambassadors-designate and High Commissioners.

Amofin Beulah Adeoye, president of the Beulah Adeoye Foundation has joined millions of Nigerians and admirers across the world in celebrating an exceptional statesman, elder patriot, and father of modern Nigeria, His Excellency Olusegun Obasanjo, on the occasion of his 89th birthday anniversary.

Amofin Adeoye in the birthday message signed and made available to journalists said Chief Obasanjo’s life has remained a remarkable testament to courage, service, discipline, and commitment to the progress of Nigeria and the African continent.

The Director of Publicity of the City Boy Movement in Oyo State, Gbenga Oyetola, has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has no visible opposition in the state ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Oyetola made the assertion in a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan, noting that the President’s growing acceptance across party lines reflects increasing confidence in his administration.

According to him, since the inauguration of the City Boy Movement in Oyo State, the group has witnessed a surge in interest from individuals across various political parties, including the Peoples Democratic Party, Labour Party and African Democratic Congress. He said thousands of members and political actors from these parties had reached out to identify with the movement.

Oyetola attributed the development to what he described as the visible achievements of President Tinubu’s administration in critical sectors such as economic reforms, infrastructure development, security and social intervention programmes.

“The overwhelming interest from people across different political affiliations underscores a unifying confidence in the leadership and vision of President Tinubu,” he said.

“This shows clearly that in Oyo State, the President enjoys widespread support cutting across party boundaries.”

Akin Akinwale has officially concluded his tenure as the All Progressives Congress (APC) Oyo Central Senatorial Youth Leader following the emergence of new executives at the party’s State Congress held today in Ibadan.

In a valedictory message marking the end of his service, Akinwale expressed deep appreciation to stakeholders and youth leaders of the APC across the senatorial district for their unwavering support throughout his tenure.

He particularly commended the 11 Local Government Youth Leaders of the APC in Oyo Central for their loyalty, cooperation, and dedication, noting that their collective efforts made the administration impactful and productive.

Akinwale also acknowledged the immediate past APC State Youth Leader, Prince John Aremu Oyetunji, for providing the platform and opportunity that enabled him to serve in that capacity.

The gubernatorial aspirant under the platform of People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Amofin Adeoye shared his vision for inclusive development and people-centred leadership for Oyo State. Amofin Adeoye continued with his strategic consultation as regards his gubernatorial ambition ahead of 2027.

The legal icon at Dr Ayilara’s office said leadership is a responsibility that requires not only vision and competence but also humility, spiritual support and guidance. Amofin Adeoye said it’s important to seek the blessings and wise counsel of religious leaders like Dr Teliat Yunus Olushina who play vital roles in promoting peace, unity and moral values in society.

Governor Seyi Makinde has announced that intending Muslim pilgrims from Oyo State will be airlifted directly to Saudi Arabia from the Ibadan International Airport for the 2026 Hajj exercise.

The governor made this known during the annual Omituntun Ramadan Lecture held at the Ibadan North Car Park in Ibadan.

Makinde disclosed that the airlift of pilgrims is scheduled to commence on May 3, expressing optimism that the arrangement would ease the travel process for intending pilgrims from the state.

Speaking at the event, the governor also extended generous support to the guest lecturer, Sheikh Jamiu Ami Olohun, presenting him with a brand-new jeep in appreciation of his contributions.

“I don’t think the guest lecturer needs a bus; what he needs is a jeep, so I will provide a jeep for him,” Makinde stated.

He further announced that seven mosques across the state, one from each geopolitical zone, would receive buses in commemoration of the 2026 Ramadan lecture.

“By May 3, In sha Allah, our pilgrims will take off to Saudi Arabia directly from Ibadan,” the governor added.
