Oyo APC Emerging Leaders Hail Party Elders For Promoting Unity

 

The rank and file of the Oyo State All Progressives Congress, (APC), Emerging Leaders have applauded the collegiate of the party’s elders on the unification summit held to address the state of affairs of the party ahead of the forthcoming congresses.

The APC group commended the stakeholders for the 7th October meeting held in Ibadan to reflect on the fortune of the party ahead of the approaching party’s convention and the 2027 general elections.

Emerging Leaders extolled the state executives led by Alhaji Moshood Olayide Abas for their up and doing in redeeming the fortune of the party against the reflection of the last Ibadan North Federal Constituency bye-election.

The assembly commended the progressive ideology of the party in projecting more participation of the younger elements, women inclusive with the need for fair and square primaries to elect party’s officers at all levels.

The emerging party’s faithful restated their support for the leadership of the party for forward looking effort at restoring peace, discipline, unity and reorganization of the party.

The gathering tasked the party’s leadership to be intentional on implementation of decision reached at the submit in order to engender vote of confidence on them by all and sundry in emerging leaders mostly by revisiting the party’s reward system for better motivation and rededication of party’s the members and sympathizers.

The group advocated decency and decorum in the projection, presentation and marketing of various aspirants of the party calling party’s members to shun derision, demarketing or deranking of any aspirants.

Tinubu’s Aide, Wale Fadare Commends NELFUND, Praises President for Supporting Tertiary Education

The Personal Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on General Duties, Olawale Fadare, has commended the Federal Government’s education financing initiative through the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), describing it as a life-changing opportunity for indigent tertiary students across the country.

Speaking in an interview with the press, Fadare praised President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, saying it is already delivering tangible benefits to key sectors, especially education. He noted that the interest-free loan scheme for tertiary students has been widely embraced by stakeholders, investors, and education advocates for its potential to ease financial burdens and enhance access to higher education.

“I am particularly elated by the impact the educational loan is having on the lives of students. It aligns with the President’s commitment to leaving no stone unturned in national development,” Fadare said.

Highlighting the broader vision of the administration, he added, “President Tinubu truly understands the yearnings of Nigerians, especially the impressionable but gifted youths. I make bold to state that there are better days ahead for this country because the ship is in capable hands.”

Fadare also called on Nigerians, particularly the youth, to support the government’s reform programmes, which he described as transformative and responsive to the needs of the people.

The NELFUND, launched under the Tinubu administration, aims to provide interest-free loans to eligible students in public tertiary institutions, enabling them to focus on their studies without financial distress.

Countdown as Ibadan Sets to Host Davido 5ive Concert

Amofin Adeoye Delivers 7th Chrisland Convocation Lecture As 44 Out Of 252 Graduands Bag First Class

 

Amofin Beulah Adeoye has delivered the 7th Convocation Lecture of the Chrisland University located in Abeokuta, capital of Ogun State.

Amofin Adeoye in his lecture titled “Breaking New Frontiers: Knowledge, Innovation and Impact” charged 252 graduands of the University to be pioneers, innovators and problem solvers.

He told 252 graduates across faculties that their journey in life commenced as they stepped out of the Convocation hall. He challenged them to measure their lives with problems they solved, people they lifted up and integrity they upheld when no one was watching, positive change they brought to family, community and nation at large. He admonised them not to seek a job alone but a mission and not to seek success alone but prioritise significance they will make.

Amofin Adeoye reminded graduands that breaking frontiers is about the excellence and innovative ideas they put into details of the work assigned to them and deliver maximally. He urged them to always add values to organisation they find themselves to attain its maximum capacity, excel and impact the world. Amofin Adeoye said the journey ahead is not only for graduands alone but for the larger society.

He said Chrisland University has established itself as a beacon of excellence and moral fortitude. He commended the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Oladunni Sola Arulogun for sustaining the legacy of its founder.

“The knowledge you gained has taught you how to think; you must act. Amofin Adeoye thanked the Chancellor, High Chief Winifred Awosika for nurturing her vision into reality. He said High Chief Awosika was deliberate about her penchant for academic excellence which pushed her to establish Chrisland University which has grown from 57 students at inception to over 1700 students currently.

69-Year-Old Kate Akomolafe, Other Take Matriculation Oath at UI

 

A 69 year-old learner, Mrs Kate Bosede Akomolafe, was among the five thousand students who were matriculated into the Distance Learning Centre of the University of Ibadan for the 2024/2025 Academic Session.

The newly admitted student of Social Work is presently a pig farmer who retired years ago from RT Briscoe Motor Company as a Data Processing Officer.

After R T Briscoe, she went into Baking Flour business as a distributor of the products of the Nigerian Eagle Flour Mills.

Born on 22 December 1956, Mrs Akomolafe obtained her West African School Certificate in 1976 from Government Secondary School, Creek Road, Port Harcourt but went back to sit for both the WASCE and NECO last year in order to acquire enough credits to obtain a university admission and a Bachelor’s degree.

She opted for Social Work to enable her to broaden her knowledge and to successfully manage her Non-Government Organization, Christ’s Care for the Widow.

Mrs Akomolafe, a mother of 4 successful children, three men and one lady, is undaunted by the task ahead!

She is determined to put in her best and aspires to obtain a First Class at the end of her programme.

Genuine Success is Achieved Through Deliberate Choices – UI DVC Tells DLC New Intakes

 

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration of the University of Ibadan, Professor Peter O. Olapegba, FNPA, fspsp has told matriculating students of the Distance Learning Centre of the University of Ibadan that genuine success is achieved through deliberate choices.

He, therefore, charged the students to be selective in the friendships that they cultivate, recognising that every interaction, discussion, lecture, and experience over the coming years will fundamentally shape their character and determine the trajectory of their lives.

Professor Olapegba gave the charge in an address he delivered on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, mni, FAS, fspsp, at the Matriculation Ceremony of the Distance Learning Centre.

He told the students that they are solely responsible for the outcomes they will realise in UI, a vibrant community where academic study is harmoniously balanced with social engagement.

Professor Olapegba, however, cautioned the students that the University is governed by a clear set of laws and principles established to ensure a safe, conducive, and uninterrupted learning environment for everyone.

He reiterated that the University has zero tolerance for unruly behaviour or any conduct that compromises its hard earned reputation.

He advised the students in their own best interests to adhere strictly to all University regulations.

Professor Olapegba told the students that their success is guaranteed, provided they fully immerse themselves in the rigorous, meticulously designed curriculum and consciously shield themselves from distractions that could impede their progress.

He reassured that the University of Ibadan is synonymous with excellence in both learning and character and encouraged the students to immediately adopt the demeanour of true ambassadors and represent the institution well, both during their studies and long after graduation.

He told them to envision the boundless possibilities ahead, embrace every challenge, celebrate every triumph, and dedicate themselves to moments of profound self-discovery.

The DVC stated that their success will be measured not just by grades but by the depth of their insight, the resilience they exhibit, and the positive impact that they ultimately make on the world.

The Registrar, Mr Ganiyu O. Saliu, fspsp, FCIML, FNIM, led the matriculants in taking the Matriculation Oath.

About 5000 learners were matriculated at the ceremony for the 2024/2025 Academic Session into the 16 courses available at the Distance Learning Centre.

2027: Buhari Engages Oyo South Former Councillors, Seeks Support for Party Unity, Tinubu’s Re-election, His Guber Ambition

 

Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Senator representing Oyo North Senatorial District, Senator Fatai Buhari, has reaffirmed his commitment to the ideals of the late former Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, during a meeting with former councillors from Oyo South Senatorial District who served in 2018.

The interactive session, held as part of ongoing engagements and consultations, was aimed at seeking support for Buhari’s gubernatorial ambition ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to the former local government lawmakers of Oyo South, the meeting was viewed as a strategic move to strengthen internal unity and consolidate the progressive structure of the APC across the state.

In a joint press statement released by the five-man committee representing the Oyo South former councillors — Hon. Ayodele Adewuyi (Ibadan North), Hon. Lawal Kafayat (Ibadan North East/South East), Hon. Obagunle Olutokun (Ibarapa East/Ido), Hon. Taofeek Omogbolahan (Ibadan North West/South West), and Hon. Oyewole Waliu (Ibarapa Central/North); Senator Buhari clarified that the gathering was not a campaign event, but rather a family meeting of the Ajimobi Legacy Group, designed to foster collaboration and synergy among progressives within the party. And also to seek support for party unity and the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

While addressing the former councillors, Senator Buhari extolled the virtues of the former First Lady of Oyo State, Her Excellency, Dr. (Mrs.) Florence Ajimobi, for her unwavering commitment to preserving and advancing the political and developmental legacy of her late husband.

He described her as “a symbol of resilience and continuity within the progressive family,” adding that her leadership and support have been pivotal in sustaining the ideals of good governance, discipline, and integrity across the state.

Buhari also reassured the attendees of his determination to continue delivering impactful representation to his senatorial district and to Oyo State at large. He emphasized that the initiative was part of his broader effort to empower party loyalists, strengthen grassroots participation, and ensure that the APC remains strong and connected to the people.

In their collective response, the 2018 former councillors commended Senator Buhari for recognizing their contributions and for his inclusive approach. Oyo Govt Hands Over 90 Hectares of Land to FG for Moniya Inland Dry Port construction

 

Oyo State Government has officially handed over 90 hectares of land along Ibadan-Oyo road, Moniya, in Akinyele Local Government Area, to the Federal Government for the construction of the proposed Moniya Inland Dry Port.

Speaking on Friday at an event held at the Conference Room of the Secretary to the State Government, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, the state governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, who spoke through the Deputy Governor, Barrister Bayo Lawal, described the Moniya Inland Dry Port as a project that would not only enhance Oyo State economy but would also promote agriculture value chain, industrialization and infrastructure development in the country.

He added that the dry port operation would result in the decongestion of the Lagos ports and ease of clearing goods.

The governor charged all stakeholders to support the project to make it a reality in no distant future.

Earlier in his remarks, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Mr Gboyega Oyetola, who spoke through the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Tpl Oloruntola Michael Olufemi, explained that the Moniya Inland Dry Port is a strategic national project that would bring shipping services closer to importers and exporters and stimulate industrial and agricultural growth across the entire Southwest region.

He commended Governor ‘Seyi Makinde for his patriotic gesture in aligning with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the federal government, describing the official handing over of the land as a clear demonstration of partnership and shared vision between the federal government and the Oyo State government to expand economic opportunities through modern trade.

He stressed that the project would strengthen regional competitiveness, create jobs, and enhance Nigeria’s logistic chain.

Also, in his goodwill message, the Executive Secretary, Nigerian Shippers Council, Barrister Akutar Ukiyama, who was represented by the Director, Inland Transport Service, Alhaji Ahmodu Yahyah, appreciated Governor Makinde for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to the economic advancement of the state.

He mentioned that the Inland Dry Port when completed would generate direct and indirect jobs for the people of the state, stimulate industrial growth, increase internally generated revenue, boost rural and urban development, provide a platform for seamless cargo clearance and logistics operations as well as enhance agriculture value chain.

Earlier in his welcome address, the State Commissioner for Lands and Urban Development, Mr. Akin-Funmilayo Williams, lauded the partnership between the federal government and Oyo State, assuring that the state would create an enabling environment for the successful implementation of the project.

The event had in attendance Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Hon. Segun Olayiwola; Commissioner for Trade, Investment, Industry and Cooperatives, Mr Adeniyi Adebisi; and Chairman Civil Service Commission Alhaji Kamorudeen Aderibigbe, among others.

Senator Sharafadeen Alli (APC-Oyo South) has extended warm felicitations to the former Senate Leader and 2023 All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Oyo State, Senator Teslim Kolawole Folarin, OFR, on the occasion of his birthday.
