In recent days, a video has been circulating across social platforms showing the heartbreaking reactions of residents affected by the ongoing works on the Ibadan Circular Road. The sorrow etched on their faces is not merely emotional; it is a portrait of loss. These are ordinary citizens whose only “offense” is that their long-earned homes happen to fall near the designated route of development. Their life investments now lie at the mercy of demolition crews.

Your Excellency, Engr. Oluseyi Makinde, publicly available information indicates that the original setback approved for the Circular Road corridor was 75 meters. However, under the current directive, this setback has reportedly been expanded to 500 meters on both sides. This substantial extension has led to large-scale demolition of houses, farmlands, and livelihoods- allegedly without corresponding compensation or humane resettlement support for the affected residents.

Your Excellency, you have consistently identified yourself as a leader aligned with the downtrodden, a governor who listens, understands, and stands with the masses. Yet, this unfolding reality is pushing countless families, retirees, widows, artisans, and landlords into homelessness, heartbreak, and deep financial hardship. There are reports of some affected residents experiencing severe emotional distress, including strokes, while others are plunged into profound grief. What is being bulldozed is not merely concrete; it is years of savings, memories built brick by brick, and dreams nurtured over time.

Even more troubling are reports suggesting that in some of these demolished areas, private developers have already begun measuring the reclaimed lands, allegedly intending to advertise and sell them. If accurate, this raises serious questions about the fairness, transparency, and integrity of the process.

Leadership is remembered not only for the infrastructure it creates but also for the dignity it preserves, the justice it upholds, and the compassion it demonstrates when power meets vulnerability. Every decision made at the table of governance becomes part of history. What story will this one tell?

The Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan has sustained its earlier order clearing the PDP to proceed with its National Convention scheduled for Saturday, November 15th, and Sunday, November 16th, 2025, in Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital.

The judgment delivered on November 10th, 2025, is a great relief for Oyo State Governor Engineer Seyi Makinde and his cohorts, who have been working tirelessly to ensure the convention’s success.

Justice A.L. Akintola presiding over the Court, sustained the Order directing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to attend, monitor, and or observe the PDP’s Elective National Convention of the PDP as scheduled, pending the hearing and determination of the Motion on notice.

OYOMIND.COM.NG previously reported that Makinde, seeking alternative to the crumbling PDP had begun exploring ties with the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

With today’s ruling, the path is clear for the PDP to conduct its Elective National Convention on Saturday electing new National Officers.

A controversy has emerged in Oluyole Local Government Area of Oyo State over the actual source of funding for the newly flagged-off Mini Mapo Hall project, amid claims that the initiative was originally conceived and financed by traditional rulers, not the Local Government Council.

According to reliable sources, monarchs in Oluyole had long been working on and gathering funds from within themselves for the project since the reign of the late Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun. Plans and approvals were already in motion before the Local Government Chairman, Engr. Akeem Olatunji, took office.

It was alleged that while Chairman Olatunji publicly announced the project as the council initiative, the funding and groundwork were wholly and exclusively done by the palace and community leaders in Idi-Ayunre, who envisioned the hall as a cultural and civic centre for traditional activities and community gatherings.

The source further alleged that the chairman later relocated the project site from the original location agreed upon by the monarchs to another area described as a “thick forest,” sparking concerns over transparency and the true intent behind the change.

It will be recalled that Engr. Akeem Olatunji recently flagged off the construction of the Mini Mapo Hall at the Oluyole Local Government Secretariat in Idi-Ayunre, describing it as a major step in promoting heritage and infrastructure-driven development.

According to the chairman, the hall will be centrally located to serve several wards including Abala, Onigambari, Onipe, and Idi-Ayunre to ensure accessibility and community benefit.

“The essence of this clarification is that the existing council under the leadership of Akeem Olatunji, only supported the already approved project but never invested a dime to finance the project’s construction.

“This is necessary towards setting the records straight for the future of the true Oluyole sons of the soil. While the public should be well notified of this true picture of things, the true sons of Oluyole have been particularly concerned over the arrogation by the council chair that the project is being owned to his administration” one of sources highlighted.
