A new dawn in revenue administration in the country officially begins today as the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) which replaces the now rested Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) unveils its institutional brand identity.

NRS came into operation following the signing of its enabling law known as the Nigeria Revenue Service Establishment Act 2025 by President Bola Tinubu in June 2025.

Speaking at the unveiling of the logo on Wednesday in Abuja, the Executive Chairman of NRS, Zacch Adedeji, explained that the logo and other brand elements for NRS represent an important milestone in the evolution of Nigeria’s revenue administration framework.

A statement issued by his Special Adviser (Media), Dare Adekanmbi, quoted him as adding that “the unveiling of the NRS identity reflects a renewed commitment to a more unified, efficient, and service-oriented revenue system, one that is aligned with Nigeria’s economic transformation agenda and global best practices.

According to him, the new identity “signals continuity of purpose, strengthened institutional capacity, and a forward-looking approach to supporting taxpayers and national development.”

“The Nigeria Revenue Service remains committed to transparency, partnership, and service excellence. The unveiling of this new identity represents not an end, but the beginning of a strengthened relationship between the revenue authority and the Nigerian public—built on trust, clarity, and shared prosperity,” the statement said.

A few days to the end of the year 2025, the Member of the House of Representatives representing Ibadan North Federal Constituency, Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle, has unveiled his official website, marking a major step toward deepening transparency, communication, and people-focused representation.

The newly launched digital platform is designed to serve as a central hub for information, engagement, and empowerment, reinforcing Hon. Oyekunle’s commitment to accessible and responsive leadership. It reflects his belief that governance must remain close to the people—transparent, inclusive, and driven by the needs of constituents.

Speaking on the initiative, the lawmaker described the platform as a reliable link between his office and the people of Ibadan North, ensuring that constituents remain informed about legislative activities, constituency projects, and development-driven interventions.

The website will provide verified updates on Hon. Oyekunle’s work at the National Assembly, ongoing and completed constituency projects, as well as community-based initiatives. It will also serve as the official channel for announcing empowerment programmes, skills acquisition opportunities, grants, and other forms of support targeted at youths, women, artisans, traders, and professionals across the constituency.

According to the lawmaker, one of the core objectives of the platform is to ensure that no resident of Ibadan North is left uninformed. All information relating to empowerment programmes, vocational training, business support, capacity-building initiatives, and constituency-driven development opportunities will be communicated clearly and transparently through the website.

Hon. Oyekunle noted that the platform goes beyond being an online presence, describing it as a reflection of his unwavering commitment to people-centred representation, inclusive development, open communication, and sustainable progress.
Residents, community leaders, youth and women groups, professionals, and other stakeholders in Ibadan North Federal Constituency have been encouraged to explore the platform, engage actively, and rely on it as the authentic source for constituency updates and empowerment-related information.

With the launch of the website, Hon. Fola Oyekunle reaffirmed his pledge to continue working with the people to move Ibadan North forward.

In a significant religious and cultural ceremony held in Ibadan, the Chief Imam of Ibadanland, His Eminence Sheikh Abdulganiyy Abubakry Agbotomokekere has officially installed Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Iyiola as the Bashorun Musulumi of Ibadanland.

The title, one of the highest honours within the Muslim community in the city, is reserved for individuals who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to the growth of Islam and service to humanity.

Dignitaries from across Oyo State and beyond gathered to witness the momentous occasion, praising Dr. Iyiola’s philanthropic work, leadership, and contributions to Islamic development.

The Chief Imam, in his remarks, described the new Bashorun Musulumi as “a bridge between generations and a symbol of peace, progress, and religious responsibility.”

Dr. Iyiola expressed deep gratitude for the honour, pledging to continue working for the unity, education, and empowerment of Muslims in Ibadan and beyond.

Among the dignitaries who graced the august event are Senator Teslim Folarin, Bashorun Saheed Suberu, Chief Abiola Iyiola, Dr, Azeez Adeduntan and Barr. Akeem Agbaje.

In celebration of this year’s festive season, the Akinremi Legacy Forum which comprises loyal and dedicated followers of the late former Ibadan North Federal Rep., Hon. Prince Musiliu Olaide Akinremi (Jagaban) held an end of the year meeting to continue the fostering of political inter-relationships and comradeship amongst its teeming members.

The meeting which held on Monday 29th December 2029 at the Prince Akinremi Jagaban Hall, Samonda Ibadan had in attendance over 300 coordinators of the forum where end of the year packages were also distributed to all members present.

Members of the Akinremi Think Tank which comprises personal aides, confidants and ally of the late Hon. Olaide Akinremi Jagaban, and who remain responsible for coordination of Akinremi Legacy Forum members and their activities appreciated all coordinators for remaining steadfast in their support for the forum.

They encouraged all members of Akinremi Legacy Forum to remain confident and proud of their association with late Hon. Olaide Akinremi who during his life was a performer and lover of the masses, while also assuring all members of more eventful experiences in the foreseeable future.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has launched a fresh political broadside against Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, dismissing claims about Makinde’s early financial success and recounting what he described as a series of political failures before the governor’s eventual rise in 2019.

Speaking pointedly at his ‘End of the Year Media Chat’, Wike said that at the time Makinde claimed to have made his first $1 million, he himself was already chairman of one of the most important local governments in the country, stressing that he chose political power over private contracting.

“That time Seyi Makinde made his $1 million, I was the chairman of one of the most important LGAs in this country. I didn’t choose to be a contractor. I chose to have power, and I have the power,” Wike said.

The former Rivers State governor further traced Makinde’s political journey, describing it as a succession of defeats prior to his emergence as Oyo State governor. According to Wike, Makinde contested the Oyo South senatorial seat under the Action National Party (ANPP) in 2007 but lost.

Wike added that in 2013, influential party figures approached him to hand over the Oyo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) structure to Makinde, a request he said he declined.

“In 2013, they brought him to me to give him Oyo State PDP structure. I refused and gave it to Teslim Folarin,” Wike stated.

Following that setback, Makinde reportedly moved to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) to contest the governorship election but was again unsuccessful, despite what Wike described as his financial capacity at the time.

“He went to SDP to run for governor. He failed with his $1 million,” the minister said.

Wike concluded by asserting that Makinde only achieved political success in 2019 after being granted the PDP structure, emphasizing that while he (Wike) had no such financial claims, Makinde was actively searching for political platforms despite his wealth.

“It was in 2019 that we agreed to give him the structure. I was already grounded in politics, and I had no $1 million, but the man with $1 million was going around to look for people to give him structure,” Wike declared.

The comments have added another layer to the ongoing political tensions within the PDP, particularly among its influential figures, and are expected to provoke sharp reactions from Makinde’s camp and his supporters across Oyo State.

Oje Youth Forum (OYF), in partnership with AOB Global Limited, has successfully concluded a two-week Computer Literacy and Computer-Based Test (CBT) training programme aimed at empowering students in the Oje community with essential digital, soft, and examination-readiness skills.

The programme was designed to equip secondary school leavers and prospective WAEC and JAMB candidates with practical computer knowledge and hands-on experience in using CBT platforms. Participants received training in basic computer operations, internet usage, typing skills, and how to confidently navigate CBT examination software.

The colourful closing ceremony, held at Providence Business Hub, Zion, Oje, Ibadan, attracted students, parents, community leaders, and members of the Oje Youth Forum. The atmosphere was filled with excitement as students proudly showcased what they had learned during the two-week training. Parents expressed their appreciation to the organisers for providing such a valuable opportunity for their children.

Speaking at the event, the Coordinator of Oje Youth Forum, Comrade Abubakar Olalekan Bello, expressed his appreciation to AOB Global Limited for its contribution to the development of the Oje community. He called on community leaders and parents to continue supporting OYF so that the vision and objectives of the forum can be fully realised. He emphasised that the programme reflects OYF’s commitment to improving education and reducing the digital gap among young people, noting that many students struggle in WAEC and JAMB examinations not because of a lack of knowledge, but due to unfamiliarity with CBT systems.

One of the guest speakers, Mr Morufu, encouraged the students to believe in their potential and be useful to themselves and society. He advised parents to stop accepting short-term gifts such as food items from politicians and instead demand sustainable opportunities such as jobs and educational support for their children in order to secure a better future.

Another guest speaker, Hon. Lawal Akinkunmi Monsur, commended the efforts of the Oje Youth Forum in contributing to community development. He encouraged parents and guardians to ensure that their children proceed to tertiary education after secondary school so they can be better prepared for future opportunities. He also awarded three JAMB scholarship slots to Oje students to support their educational advancement.

Mr Azeez Olatoye also urged the students to take their studies seriously and make good use of the opportunity provided by the programme to improve their academic performance.

Similarly, Mr Bello Olawoyin praised OYF for its dedication to community development and encouraged the forum to remain steadfast in its good work. He also advised parents in Oje to stop collecting small gifts from politicians that could hinder the future of their children, and instead challenge leaders to provide meaningful opportunities for the youth.

At the end of the event, certificates of participation were presented to all students who completed the training. Gifts were awarded to the best-performing students, and a total of seven JAMB scholarships were given to community students to further support their educational journey and boost their confidence ahead of upcoming examinations.

The Oje Youth Forum expressed sincere appreciation to parents, volunteers, and partners for their contributions to the success of the programme, reaffirming its commitment to continuous youth development and educational support in the Oje community.

Through this initiative, the Oje Youth Forum continues to demonstrate its role as a catalyst for positive change, ensuring that young people are well prepared for the demands of the modern digital world.

The Omituntun Initiative in the Diaspora (OID) has congratulated the Governor of Oyo State, Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, on the occasion of his 58th birthday, praising him as a peacemaker, true servant leader, and a symbol of purposeful leadership in Nigeria.

‎The Olamide Junaid Foundation has once again extended a hand of support to thousands of families in Ibadan North as part of its annual Christmas outreach, aimed at spreading joy and gratitude to God during the festive season.

‎The outreach, held on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, in Ibadan, was organised at the instance of Dr Olamide Balikiss Junaid under the theme “Love in Action: A Christmas for Every Family.” The initiative was designed to bring relief and succour to vulnerable members of society during the yuletide.

‎Speaking at the event, Dr Olamide Junaid, an APC stalwart and Ibadan North Federal Constituency aspirant, noted that the foundation was committed to spreading love and support through the distribution of food items, care and compassion to thousands of families.

According to her, such gestures would go a long way in reducing poverty and hardship in society.

‎She assured beneficiaries that the foundation would not rest on its oars in its commitment to ensuring a more meaningful life for the people.
