Oyo Youth Commissioner, Fakorede Receives Commonwealth Award Winners, Others in Ibadan

The Commissioner for Youths and Sports development in Oyo state, Honourable Seun Fakorede has received with warm heart, the Oyo State contingents at the recently concluded Commonwealth Games yesterday after they were led by delegation from Oyo State Sports Council.

Hon. Gbenga Adewusi and the General Manager, Mr. Rotimi Makinde let the athletes who have done excellently well in various national/international sporting activities in the past months.

During the engagement, Yakub Adesokan and Amina Babalola who won gold medal at the 1st National Para Games that held in Abuja between April 9-15 presented the First Runner-up Trophy that was won by the State to me. Also, Durogbade Morenike and Yekeen Tawakalitu who won silver medal in the elites women category and Durojaye Elizabeth who won Gold in the Junior Women Category at the 2022 Cycling Confederation of African Championship that held in Abuja presented their awards.

Rofiat Lawal, Taiwo Liadi and Mary Osijo who won gold, silver and bronze respectively at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, UK also presented their awards to the commissioner.

Fakorede in his welcome address, commended the athletes and the Coaches for the rigour, diligence and discipline that made them come out in flying colours and assured them that the adequate reward and motivation for their achievements will be put in place by the State Government as is the usual practise of the Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde FNSE.
