Dear Gov. Seyi Makinde,

In August 7, 2020, the timetable for the Computer Based Test (CBT) for the Oyo State Post Primary Schools Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) recruitment was released (as seen in image 1), we acknowledge and appreciate the government for its commitment and consistencies so far towards providing employment to thousands of Oyo indigents.

Sir, we have advocated for causes in the past via different social media platforms and gladly enough, they always caught your attention. And you have always listened!!! We pray thee to listen to our plea on this too, sir.

Image 2 of this post reveals that the commission received a total of Sixty-seven thousand and thirty-one applicants in the teaching category. These applicants cut across the five geopolitical zones (Oyo, Ibadan, Ogbom, oso, Oke-Ogun and Ibarapa) of Oyo State.

Sir, 67 thousand applicants have been invited to come from all nooks and crannies of the State to just a single location; the Distance Learning CBT Centre, University of Ibadan, Ibadan.

One would have thought that since the application process was decentralized; applicants were able to register via the TESCOM PORTAL even from the comfort of their homes, similar gesture would be repeated during the CBT.

We should ask ourselves some questions,

  • With the poor road network across the state, can we say we are not exposing our people to a lot of risks?
  • Are we considering those with health issues, pregnant and nursing mothers too? How do we expect them to cope with the rigors of traveling?
  • Will the Covid 19 regulations be observed or how do we intend to prevent a huge crowd and observe social distancing with the numbers of applicants?
  • For reliability and validity of the exercise, shouldn’t applicants be placed on equal test conditions? Why Ibadan centre alone? Don’t we have CBT c tres across the other zones?

Once again, this is a kind appeal on behalf of the good people of Oyo. Kindly reconsider this move. We are pleading for the decentralization of the tests to other zones in the State and we hope this will get to your listening ears as usual.

Thank you and God bless Oyo State.

I am Oloye Omo-Iya Kunmi, a true son of Oyo State.
