Oyo Police Parades Suspects for alleged Stealing, Murder

The Oyo State Police has arrested (22) Male suspects for committing various offences ranging from Ritual Killing, Rape, Defilemen

Gentlemen of the press, it is indeed my honor and privilege to welcome you all to today’s Press Briefing to highlight our achievements as a Command for the Period in view.

2.The Oyo state Police Command wishes to use this medium to appreciate all its security stakeholders inclusive of; Sister Services, Civil liberties organizations, leaders of influence particularly within the trado-religious institutions, the media, Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Market leaders, Artisans, Student groups and indeed the good people of Oyo State for their maturity and co-operation during the just concluded Nationwide Protest from August 1st-10th, 2024.

3.Also, I commend the valiant and courageous officers and men of the Command who demonstrated professionalism and dedication to their duties by statutorily upholding the protection of lives and property as required by the laws of the land during the period as well.

4.Once more, it is important to note that the Oyo State Police Command under my watch shall not relent in its quest to make the State unhabitable for the sinister minded ones who make criminal profits from crimes especially Ritual Killings, Robbery and other related vices.

5.In the same vein, the Command will continue to marshal on the merits of strategic community engagements and intelligence led policing to improve on crime Management and Control across the length and breadth of Oyo State.

6.Today, we are glad to give account of our stewardship as we have arrested (22) Male suspects for committing various offences ranging from Ritual Killing, Rape, Defilement Robbery, Murders and other criminal conspiracies, including a self acclaimed cleric responsible for the sensational serial ritual murder at Moniya.

7.On a note of Finality, we indulge all patriotic citizens of Oyo State to remain vigilante and remember the famous mantra, “If you see something, say something and the Police will immediately do something”.

1. SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBERY: On 17/7/2024 at about 0300hrs, suspect, Mohammed Bello ‘m’ age 28yrs of Idi-Igba Onipanu Road, Ogbomoso was arrested at Egbeda Village Ogbomoso/Ilorin Highway by patrol men from Orile-Igbon Police Divisional Headquarters for participating in a robbery incident reported by a victim (name withheld), who was dispossed of his phone, MP3 among others at the location. The case was transferred to SCID, Iyaganku on same date for discreet investigation.

Upon the receipt of the case, the Anti-Robbery Section of the SCID was detailed to investigate. During the preliminary investigation, the said Mohammed Bello ‘m’ confessed that he is a member of a “5-man syndicate” specialized in robbing road users along Ogbomoso/Ilorin Highway, using cutlasses and sticks.

The Anti-Robbery Section swiftly swung into action leading to the eventual arrest of suspects; Aliu Usman ‘m’, Aliu Muhammed ‘m’ (who is a member of another robbery syndicate along the axis), Kabiru Abass ‘m’ and Jemilu Ibrahim ‘m’ (who are suspected receivers and the group motorcyclists respectively.
They were arrested by the team at Sabo Ogbomoso in Oyo state and the suspects confessed committing the crime. Exhibits recovered from them include Four (4) Bajaj Motorcycles, Ten (10) Mobile Phones, Two (2) HP Laptops, One (1) Motorcycle Number Plate, One (1) Wrist Watch, Six (6) Motorcycle keys, One (1) Cutlass and One (1) Knife.
Investigation is ongoing please.

2. SUSPECTED ROBBERY AND STEALING: On 4th August, 2024, the suspect, one Alayo Opeyemi ‘m’ who was allegedly involved in a case of Stealing was transferred from Challenge Police Divisional Headquarters to SCID, Iyaganku for discreet investigation.
On 2nd August 2024 at about 1738hrs, the suspect was sighted by a victim and was eventually arrested besides George and Duke School, Akala Expressway, Ibadan, when he was following a potential victim, in order to trick him and collect his phone. Sometime in July, 2024 the suspect came to the victim’s brother shop in the same area with his accomplice named Adewole Raheem ‘m’ and pretended as if he wanted to adjust the victim’s shoe, then
