The Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sport, Honourable Seun Fakorede, in fulfilling the Youth engagement and Inclusion agenda of the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, paid a working visit to the Foko, Agbeni and Agbokojo area of Ibadan to directly interact with the youths on Tuesday, April 20, 2021.
Fakorede who stated that the visit was in a bid to bring the youth closer to the government and to enlighten them at the extent to which the activities of the Government is directly influencing their lives.
According to him, the visit was intended “to have their views on the programmes the State government can roll out to increase youth engagement, especially in sports which is an untapped goldmine that the Oyo State Government under Engr. Seyi Makinde is trying all he could to utilise.”
The youth commissioner who gave accolades to the youths said they remain the vanguard of the revolution and the genuine agents of change.
“The GSM administration believes so much in youth participation in asset goals_ one of the set-goals of this administration. This disposition will, in turn, reposition our stand in terms of youth development amongst the comity of States in the country.”
Meanwhile, the youths, speaking through their leader, Akin Oosa and Kazeem Ọ̀lẹ appreciated Governor Seyi Makinde on the good work he has been doing in the State most especially in terms of youth and sports development and for the Table Tennis Training facility that will be donated to their communities.
They however also expressed hope that the inter-community football competitions in the offing as I mentioned to them will help discover hidden talents in their communities.
