The Oyo State Police Command has arrested one suspect linked to the death of ‘Azeezat Shomuyuwa’, the 29years old Postgraduate Student of the Department of Social Work, University of Ibadan.
Oyo State Public Relations Officer, Mr. Gbenga Fadeyi, confirmed the arrest of the suspect when the Nigerian Tribute, on Thursday asked for an update on the twin killings of Shomuyiwa and Barakat Bello.
You would recall that OYOMIND.COM.NG on Friday, 5th June 2020 reported that, Azeezat, a seven months old pregnant woman as found dead in her home after being hit with a stone on her head by unknown assailants.
Fadeyi said the suspect in police custody was assisting in investigation into Azeezat’s killing.
Asked about Barakat’s killing, he said an investigation into the incident was ongoing.
19-year-old Barakat had been raped and killed by yet-to-be-identified persons in her home last Monday.
“A suspect is still in our cell assisting the police in our investigation.
“We are working to make sure that those others in connection with the incident are arrested and prosecuted accordingly.
“The Criminal Investigation Department is still on the case. The suspect is for Azeezat’s case. Efforts are on regarding the other case,” Fadeyi said.
