NASELS Southwest Throws Weight Behind Prof. Raji Oyelade’s Unibadan Vice-Chancellor Candidacy

The leadership of the National Association of Students of English and Literary Studies (NASELS), Southwest Regions, has thrown their weight behind the candidacy of Professor Aderemi Raji-Oyelade as the 13th Vice-Chancellor of the Unversity of Ibadan, Ibadan.

In a statement signed by Regional Director AbdulAzeez AbdulMaleek , the association described Prof. Aderemi as a role model whose antecedent in academics is enviable. In their words, “The one many emerging generations look up to meet”.

The statement read this:

The 8th regional council of the National Association of Students of English and Literary Studies (NASELS) Southwest Region is gladdened by the news of Professor Aderemi Raji-Oyelade joining the race for the office of the (13th) Vice Chancellor of the Premier University, University of Ibadan.

The association sees this as a delightful development and all students of English in Southwest Nigeria and the country at large are proud.

Professor Remi Raji, the Grand Patron of NASELS, has midwived countless opportunities for students of English in the country for years. In that capacity, he has proven himself as a revered sage, father, mentor, core academic, and a literary scholar of international repute. What is more, our very revered Professor is quintessential in all senses.

Prof Remi Raji remains a super proficient master of English. He is a respectable figure in academia who has carved an enviable niche for himself in various fields, – as a former Head of English Department, Dean, Faculty of Arts, Member of University of Ibadan Governing Council – and the host of many academic responsibilities, heights, with successful accomplishments to his name.

Prof Remi Raji’s antecedent in academics is enviable; the one many emerging generation look up to meet. He remains a role model and an icon of all time, who has built a legacy, injected energy and intellectualism in individuals and the academic system. We believe these among many others place him at the edge in this quest.

NASELS Southwest has benefitted immensely from Prof Remi Raji’s professional guidance and ethical mentorship. Thus, in respect to the distinct quality he embodies, he shall bring to the level of University of Ibadan, administrative leadership, and management.

The association feels very duty-bound and obliged to stand with him at this moment, provide moral support and assurance of our best and healthiest wishes as he aims the zenith of the University of Ibadan administrative seat.

NASELS Southwest is aware of Prof Remi Raji’s wings and academic tentacles as they reflect nationally and on a global scale. He is a colossus on whose resourceful aids many have found an arable path to greatness.

Prof Rem Raj, as fondly called by friends, professional colleagues, and students, has recorded numerous academic feats, all of which we are proud of and identify with as an association of linguistic and literary scholars.

Convinced by our Grand Patron’s countless merits, we not only boldly affirm that he is eminently qualified to lead a foremost Nigerian university like UniIbadan but also express our confidence in his ability to reposit the institution for better attainments among the comity of global knowledge towers.

As an association, we do seek the supports of all well-meaning individuals in academia, the government, and the general public to ensure this aspiration sees the light of the day, the one which will serve a better place for the University of Ibadan at its esteem and premier-ship.
