The Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Rauf Olaniyan did not attend either of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) factional Congresses which held on Saturday, 16th October, 2021.
The PDP Congresses which held at Adamasingba stadium had in attendance the Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, PDP Chieftains, and others, while the aggrieved members held their own Congress at Jogor hall in Ibadan, OYOMIND reports.
The absence of the Deputy Governor may not be far-fetched from the supposed rift between him and his boss.
Recall that some months ago, Oyo Mind explained that the Oyo state Second-in-command “has vowed not to end the rift between him and his boss”.
The reason of this can be attributed to “the that the governor had relegated his office and never entrusted him with any role in the state,” said a source.
Makinde’s ‘one man’ show was said to have led to division of the party that makes some chieftain like Olopoeyan, Ismail Asipa and other member of part that brought him to PDP in 2017, and none of them are ready to reconcile with Seyi Makinde.
