Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde; the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun; the All Progressives Congress(APC) governorship candidate in Oyo State, Sen. Teslim Folarin and his counterpart in Accord, Chief Adebayo Adelabu are among dignitaries shortlisted to receive distinguished Ibadan Compound Peace Initiative (ICPI) award for contributing towards the peace and development of Ibadanland.
Other awardees include wife of former Oyo Governor, Alhaja Mutia Ladoja; Engr. Dotun Sanusi; all Ibadan High Chiefs; Iyalode of Ibadanland; Otun Iyalode of Ibadanland; Balogun Iyalode of Ibadanland; Oloye Adegoke Adegboyega; Chief Lowo Obisesan, Oyo Commissioner of Police, Williams Adebowale, Director, DSS, Oyo State, Commandant, NSCDC, Oyo State, Commander, Operation Burst, and Oyo State, Commander, Amotekun Corps, Oyo State, Kunle Toogun.
A statement jointly signed by the President, Association of Ibadan Mogajis, Mogaji Asimiyu Ariori and the Coordinator of ICPI, Mogaji Nurudeen Akinade said the program tagged, “Ibadan Compond Peace Award Day” would come up on 17th February, 2023 at Mapo Hall, Ibadan by 11 am.
The duo said Makinde and the Olubadan of Ibadanland would be decorated as the Grand Patron and Royal Grand Patron of ICPI respectively.
The event, according to them, would witness presentation of Ibadan Compound Volunteer Local Police Corps by the Oyo State Commissioner of Police.
The statement said the purpose of the maiden edition of Ibadan Peace Day Celebration is to sustained collective progress and developement of Ibadanland.
The statement maintained that ICPI in conjunction with security agencies and government at all levels gathered intelligence and sustain security and peaceful coexistence of people of Ibadanland which has been yielding positive results.
“ICPI is a registered organization comprises of highly reliable Ibadan High Chiefs, Senior Chiefs, other Traditional Chiefs, Mogajis, Baales and distinguished Sons and Daughters of the Soil under the authority of His Imperial Majesty, The Olubadan of Ibadanland.”
