Makinde, Fakorede, Okocha, other Dignitaries Present as 3SC Triumphs over NK Tabor at Lekan Salami Stadium Commissioning

The newly refurbished stadium, Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan was commissioned on Wednesday, September 1. The opening ceremony was graced by the Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, the erstwhile Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Seun Fakorede, Former Super Eagles Player and Ex-Internationale, Jay Jay Okocha and many more.

The Governor, during the commissioning expressed delight and fulfillment stressing that, “it is a great privilege for him to serve the people of Oyo State” while delivering to the Oyo State Populace, a Stadium of international standard.

The N5.5billion remodelling project include the “main bowl of the stadium, gymnasium and indoor sports hall for a variety of sporting activities, a world class Tennis Court as well as Olympic Standard Swimming Pool.

The remodeling of the stadium is one of the laudable achievements witnessed by the former Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Fakorede during his tenure at the Sports Ministry.

Fakorede while speaking to Journalists emphasized on the “need for the good people of Oyo State to continually give Governor Makinde unwavering support towards the delivery of the Oyo State of our dreams”.

Fakorede further emphasized that, “the stadium is one of the giant leap of the Makinde-led Government in boosting the State’s Internally Generated Revenue and job creation avenues for the citizens and residents of the State”

The novelty match between the Oyo State’s 3SC and the Slovenian’s TK Tabor was one of the events held during the commissioning. The match ended four-nil in favour of the 3SC.
