The Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) has released timetable for the forthcoming local government election in the state.
The election which is going to hold in the thirty-three (33) local governments in the state has been scheduled for Saturday, April 27th 2024.
In a statement signed by the OYSIEC Chairman, Aare Isiaka Abiola Olagunju SAN urged concerned stakeholders to give their utmost support and corporation to the commission to conduct free, fair, and credible elections in the state.
The statement reads: “In compliance with Section 28 of Electoral Act 2022 (as amended), Section 5(a) and Paragraph (i) Schedule 2 Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission Law CAP 154, Law of Oyo State of Nigeria 2000, the general public is hereby informed that Elections will be conducted in thirty-three (33) Local Government Councils in Oyo State on 27th April 2024 between 8:00 am and 3:00 pm.
“In the circumstances, prospective candidates are expected to Obtain nomination forms in respect of the elections into their local government council at the Commission’s Headquarters situated at Quarters 484, Total Garden-Gate Road, Agodi GRA, Ibadan, Oyo State on or before Monday 28th August 2023.
“In conclusion, stakeholders are hereby enjoined to give their support and cooperation to the Commission to organize and conduct a free, fair, credible, and transparent Local Government Councils Elections in Oyo State.
