Late Police AIG, Boladuro Honoured Posthumously at Police Games Closing Ceremony

At the closing ceremony of the biannual Nigeria Police Games in Ibadan, Oyo State tagged: “Oluyole 2024,” a special posthumous award was presented to late Assistant Inspector General of Police, Isaac Adeyemo Boladuro.

Boladuro was recognised for his outstanding contribution to sports development in the Nigeria Police Force.

The late Boladuro was a towering figure in the Police Force in Nigeria, sports scene, both locally and internationally.

The award was received by his wife, Mrs. Taye Boladuro, and son, Mr. Olajide Boladuro, who is the Director-General of Oyo State Gaming and Lottery Board in a moving ceremony that paid tribute to his accomplishments and legacy.

In her acceptance speech, Mrs. Boladuro expressed her gratitude for the honor and noted that her husband’s passion for sports would live on through his legacy and the awards that bear his name.

Also present at the ceremony were the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Kayode Egbetokun, immediate past IGP, Alhaji Alkali Baba and other dignitaries, who paid tribute to Boladuro’s outstanding service and commitment to excellence when he was alive.

In his remarks, the IGP stressed the importance of sports as a tool for social development and nation building, and highlighted the Nigerian Police Force’s commitment to investing in sports as a key aspect of its strategic priorities.

The ceremony, which was held in Ibadan, the birthplace of Boladuro’s career, was a fitting tribute to the late Senior Police Officer.

Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan, the venue of the event, was filled with the sound of cheers and applause as the award was presented and the crowd paid homage to a man who had given so much to the upliftment of the Police and world of sports.

Boladuro, who passed away in 2015, left behind a rich legacy that will continue to inspire future generations of Police officers, sportsmen and women. With his passion and dedication to the pursuit of excellence, he will always be remembered as one of the greatest icons of Nigerian Police Force and police games.

The former IGP, Solomon Arase, who is the current Chairman Police Service Commission is among officers that have worked with late Boladuro in their young years as officers of the Force.

The posthumous award was seen a fitting tribute to his memory and will serve as a reminder of the enduring impact of his legacy.
