The Oyo State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has resolved to zone the Chairmanship of the party to Oke-Ogun zone ahead of the state congress scheduled to hold on Saturday, 16th October, 2021.
The resolution was made at a stakeholders meeting held in Ibadan at the Awosika home of the former governor of Oyo State, Otunba Christopher Adebayo Alao Akala on Wednesday, 13th October 2021.
Present at the meeting are the State Caretaker Chairman of the party, Chief Akin Oke; former deputy governor of Oyo State, Chief Moses Alake; Chief Samuel Adegbiji Adekola, C.A Ajibade, Alhaji Abu Gbadamosi, B.A Ajibade; former speaker and serving minority leader of Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Asimiyu Alarape; Chief Kunle Sanda, Chief Timothy Alarape Jolaoso and Mogaji Banji Olorode.
The Oyo APC Stakeholders on Monday, October 11th 2021 had a meeting where former Governor Alao-Akala; outgoing state chairman of the party, Chief Akin Oke and seven party’s zonal leader were mandated to meet, work out modalities and produce a final document that would accommodate all interests in the October 16th state congress of the party.
Some of the leaders who attended the meeting with Akala disclosed that the leaders resolved that it was expedient for all gladiators and party faithful to go into the state congress as a united and formidable team of democrats to enable them win 2023 general election.
After long hours of brainstorming session, the leaders agreed on a new zoning template.
According to the resolution of the meeting Oke-Ogun 1 is to produce State Chairman, Senatorial Youth Leader, Assistant Financial Secretary and Assistant Welfare Officer while Oke-Ogun 2 will produce State Organizing Secretary, State Legal Adviser, Deputy Youth Leader (North), Senatorial Women Leader, Deputy State Women Leader and ex Officio.
Ogbomoso zones to produce State Youth Leader, State Financial Secretary, Senatorial Chairman, State Assistant Auditor, Senatorial Women Leader and Ex Officio.
The party leaders zoned State Secretary, State Auditor, Assistant Organising Secretary and Assistant State PRO to Oyo zone while Deputy State Chairman, State Welfare Officer, Senatorial Youth Leader (South) and Assistant Treasurer go to Ibarapa Zone.
communique released after the meeting, Oke-Ogun Zone 1 is to produce the new state chairman of the party, Ibarapa Zone to get state deputy Chairman, Ibadan City to get State Women Leader, assistant secretary, Ogbomoso to get State Youth Leader, Ibadan Less City to get publicity secretary while Oyo town is to get state secretary.
Ibafan City will produce State Women Leader, Deputy Secretary, Physically Challenged, Senatorial Chairman, Senatorial Women Leader and Ex Officio while Ibadan Less City is expected to produce Treasurer, Publicity Secretary, Oyo Central Senatorial Chairman, assistant legal Adviser, Senatorial youth leader and ex Officio.
The leaders also resolved that all elective positions especially governor, deputy governor and Senators in 2023 are open to all the 33 local government areas of the state. All the leaders signed the new template that will produce state executive of the party on October 16th 2021.
