Oyo state governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde has been alleged to be planning to arrest some All Progressives Congress (APC) loyalists in the state.
This was made known through a press release put out on Sunday and signed by Mr. Tunji Adegboye of the Concerned Progressives Movement.
According to the release, there have been alleged plans by Seyi Makinde and his SSG, Mrs. Adeosun, to get the APC loyalists arrested by the Department of State Security, DSS, on “trumped up charges”
Names of the APC loyalists in question were not however stated in the release but it was stated that they were pencilled down for arrest by DSS over “ their constructive criticisms and vibrant opposition to the state government’s badly planned and executed policies and programmes”.
Other parts of the release read, “We register our displeasure at this unfortunate allegations of planned persecution of members of the opposition. It’s worthy to recall that the immediate past administration in Oyo state faced vitriolic attacks from the opposition but it was never recorded that the past administration used security agents to oppress or persecute any member of the opposition. We, therefore, find this development unfortunate.
“By this press release, we are notifying the public of the alleged plans by the state government to start persecuting members of the opposition, especially those of the APC stock”.
