MTapa in Ibarapa North Local Government is one of the prominent towns that made up the Seven Ibarapas.

It has unequivocally continued to produce notable sons and daughters who are making waves in their chosen careers in and around the globe.

During the 2019 General Election which brought the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP into power in Oyo State, the people of Tapa not only gave overwhelming support to all the party’s candidates and particularly the Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde, we also stood by our votes and ensured that there was no manipulation whatsoever.

The emergence of Governor Makinde under the platform of the PDP was seen as the beginning of a new dawn , a glimmer of hope and a dream come true.

This was because thousands of sons and daughters of Tapa town saw the PDP Government as our own , and we promised to do our overall best to ensure its outstanding success, and this we have been doing

However, few months to wrap up this administration, the question is where are the representatives of Tapa people in Engr Seyi Makinde’s Government?

Are we deliberately being removed from the center of activity or being schemed out of this Government that we all labored jointly to enthrone? Are we still relevant in the scheme of things and affairs in this Government ?

Well, the answers are in the negative and events which have continued to unfold since the inception of this administration also lend credence to our believe.

When Hon Funmilayo Orisadeyi was appointed a Commissioner in Oyo State by Governor Seyi Makinde, the whole Tapa town erupted in joy. To our dismay, the female politician was shown the way out during a cabinet reshuffle. But when the Governor was to replace the Commissioner, he did not remember to pick another son or daughter of ours. . Was it a mere coincidence or a grand design? Questions begging for answers.

Another pointer to the conspiracy or discrimination against Tapa people by this Government came to the fore recently when another prominent son of Tapa , Professor Samuel Ogunwale Ogundiran was removed as the Chairman Governing Council of Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa.

The question agitating the minds of the teeming population of Tapa indigenes is that why would such a man with daunting academic feats and outstanding records of achievements in the institution be shown the way out?

Are we no longer part and parcel of this Government? Have we being used and dumped by our amazing and amiable Governor ? Or have we being compensated well enough ?

How many of our people are even given appointment in the first place ? This is another proof to authenticate the perceived orchestrated abandonment of Tapa people.

Tapa Concern Youth is worried that the town is already being shortchanged and sidelined by this administration and it is appealing for a redress.

The Governor should look into the removal of the Chairman, Governing Council of the said institution and announce the appointment of more politicians or deserving individuals of Tapa extraction into positions of authority.

This will prove us wrong and consequently right the alleged wrongs done to us. We are not happy as a town and as a people. We remain committed to the winning party but we do not wish to labor in vain.
