Leader and former Gubernatorial aspirant of the Young Progressives Party, YPP in Oyo state, Matthew Kehinde Ogunniyi on the occasion of the International Youth Day has admonished youths to take charge in the leadership process of the country.
Kehinde Ogunniyi, during his media chat with Oyo Mind explained that, “One of the foremost national discussion is the role of youths’ participation in politics”.
Further speaking on the theme, “Is it truly our time?”, he asked. “indeed it’s our time, if you can check the records, you can see different Heads of State and Presidents who reached the echelon of power in the Country while they were young, such as Yakubu Gowon, Shehu Shagari, Olusegun Obasanjo etc. Indeed, it’s the time of the youths to take charge”, Kehinde Ogunniyi answered.
He continued, “The most important thing is, we being ready. The saying; ‘Youths are the leaders of tomorrow’, if we youths are not ready, if we don’t take the Bull by the Horn, my fear is that, that tomorrow might never come”.
He further implored the youths to charge their battery, and that it’s time to make that decision to be part of the government and governance, if they are shunning that decision due to lack of courage, they might never be ‘The leaders of tomorrow’.
