The Civil society which has been championing Human Rights advocacy, the Initiative For Citizens’ Rights, Accountability and Development has petitioned the National Board of Technical Education over irregularities and illegalities of Novelty Polytechnic, Kishi.
The Initiative, which has been on and on over the case of Novelty Polytechnic, Kishi illegalities has further reached a milestone because the Novelty Polytechnic has debunked ever giving licence to more than 5 study centres spread across South West which has further led to jeopardizing of the future of the affected students.
The Letter, which was addressed to the Executive Secretary of the NBTE has raised alarm over the disclaimer issued denying knowledge of approving any study centres in Nigeria despite entering agreement to different education consulting centres which led to the creation of 7 satellite campuses spread across Abuja, Minna, Bida, Lagos and Ibadan.
Prior to the denial and blame game being played by the Management of Novelty Polytechnic, the Rector and other Governing Council of the Institution has attended the Matriculation of these Study Centres and embarked on visits for accreditation and inspection purposes.
However, Eight Months after the arrangements between the Study Centres and Novelty Polytechnic ended as a results of breach of contract and infractions.
Similar to the various irregularities in Novelty Polytechnic, Kishi includes the absence of minimum standards needed to be met according to the Minimum Standards and Establishment of Institutions Act, 2004 as the Polytechnic is understaffed and there are less provisions for the minimum standards needed to meet up as a Tertiary institution.
More than 7 courses are being actively run in the Institution with increasing fraud in the academia is the order of the day
