Former Special Assistant on Digital Media to Governor Seyi Makinde, Muritala Olajide Adigun, popularly known as Adigun Ibadan, has declared that it may be very difficult for him to forgive the governor despite the sacrifices he made toward Makinde’s political success.
In a reflection on his Facebook page, Adigun recounted the ordeals he allegedly went through between 2017 and 2019 while working for Makinde’s mandate.
“I really suffered for the mandate he and his imported supporters are enjoying today. Only those who know what we went through at that time will understand. I risked my life for this man. I was arrested, prosecuted, attacked on many occasions, and even spent five days at Eleyele police headquarters,” he said.
The former aide further narrated how he narrowly escaped death on several occasions.
“I escaped gunshots at Ọjọo during the campaign, a bullet even penetrated the car I was in but God saved me. Auxiliary once captured me during GSM’s tribunal trial at Iyaganku but later released me unharmed. I will also never forget our experience in Igboho at the house of his former deputy governor, Engr. Rauf Olaniyan, which nearly claimed my life,” he recalled.
Despite his loyalty, Adigun lamented that Governor Makinde relieved him of his appointment just three months after offering him a role in 2020.
“GSM appointed me after his first year in office and sacked me three months later because of a mistake involving many appointees. He purposely sacked me because of the political camp I belong,” he alleged.
Looking ahead to 2027, Adigun vowed that the political tide would turn.
“By 2027, everything will become history. GSM too will become a former governor. Nothing is permanent in life, not even the position of a permanent secretary. Inshallah, by 2027, I shall return to the same secretariat where he sacked me, while GSM will be looking at the office he presently occupies from a distance,” he declared.
It will be recalled that Governor Seyi Makinde terminated Adigun’s appointment in March 2020 after he controversially used a picture of fumigation equipment belonging to the Lagos State government, claiming it was for Oyo State.
The incident drew widespread criticism and was described as gross incompetence by many.
Adigun, however, apologised at the time, insisting that hackers had tampered with his Facebook account to make the post.
