Oyo State Police Command has debunked media report of invasion of a public school by suspected herders in Oriire Local Government Area of the state.
The Police, when contacted explained that what transpired was an argument between the school authorities and the herders who were grazing on an open field close to the school.
The Command’s Spokesman, Adewale Osifeso, Superintendent of Police said although investigation has commenced into the matter, no report of clash or injury was reported.
He appealed to media practitioners to be more professional in doing their job so as not to fan the ember of discord and rift between people who are living together peaceful.

Meanwhile, the social media had reported that an unconfirmed numbers of students and staff of Community Grammar School, Alaropo Nla, Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State sustained varying degrees of injury as suspected herders allegedly invaded the school premises.
According to the report, the herders, numbering about 20 invaded the school premises with their cattles to graze, Thursday morning.
It added that the incident occurred shortly after the students finished their morning devotion and were preparing to settle down in their classrooms to continue their ongoing second term examination.
The report said the entire school community were shocked to see the herders lead their cattle to the school farm to graze on the crops, noting that trouble started when some students and teachers made effort to drive away the herdsmen, a move which was met with stiff and brutal resistance by the herders.
While the dust will settles, some students and teachers, among whom are Mr. Paul Olabode, were said to have sustained sword and machete cuts, while many others were left with broken legs and hands.
It was gathered that the intervention of the school principal, Mrs Grace Alamu who called the Police and other security operatives saved the matter from degenerating into full blown crisis.
