Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State on Friday has commended the initiative of the federal government to create 1000 employment opportunities per local government in the state.
Makinde stated this through his Executive Assistant Administration, Reverend Idowu Ogedengbe at the inauguration ceremony of Oyo state selection committee of extended special public works programme
Governor’s office correspondent Olamiposi Ishola was at the Federal Secretariat Ikolaba venue of the event.
Since President Muhammadu Buhari gave approval for the commencement of 1000 employment Opportunities per local government, Inauguration of the committees in their respective states has commenced to ensure smooth take off of the programme.
While delivering the address of Governor Seyi Makinde, his Executive Assistant on Administration Reverend Idowu Ogedengbe said the present administration is key to the expansion of economy through the creation of employment.
He commended the federal government for the initiative towards providing employment opportunities per local government.
The chairman Oyo state selection committee, FGN Special Public Works Program, Mr. Ope Salami said the programme is targeted at providing short term jobs for 33,000 people across the 33 local government Areas of Oyo state.
He stressed that selected beneficiaries will perform rehabilitation/maintenance work and will be paid a modest stipend of 20,000 Naira per month for 3 months.
The three months Federal Government special public works programme will run from October to December 2020.
