Barely four days after the face-off between phone sellers and members of the Park Management System (PMS) at Iwo Road, Ibadan, which resorted in the killing of the son of the shop owner, Rahman Azeez, Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has not paid a condolence visit to the family of deceased.

On Wednesday, 16th June 2021, the Chairman, Disciplinary Committee of Park Management System, Alhaji Lamidi Mukaila Auxiliary had led some members of the association to the complex, leading to the mayhem.

Makinde had, barely 24 hours after the incident, visited the scene, promising to prosecute the killers and also review Park Management System in the state.

Some visibly angry traders, identified to be phone sellers, had been caught on camera clamouring for the disbandment of Auxiliary as the Disciplinary Committee Chairman amongst other demands.

Despite the obvious involvement of Auxiliary, and the promise made by the governor to prosecute the killer and review PMS, there was no action to that effect so far.

The lackadaisical attitude towards getting justice for victims of similar cases under the present administration in Oyo State is on the increase.

On May 21st 2021, a Toyota Matrix alleged to be part of Governor Makinde’s convoy to a campaign at Ogbomoso killed a two-year-old girl.

Governor Makinde in his reaction disowned the vehicle saying that “the child was hit by an individual driving a Toyota Matrix car who lost control of his vehicle.”

The family of the girl and the entire citizen of Oyo State were promised justice by the governor by ensuring that the perpetrator(s) is brought to book but up till now, nothing has been done.
