It is a common sentiment that voting is the civic duty of every person in a democratic dispensation. Nigeria, as much as we know, operates constitutional democracy which grants every citizen the inalienable and undeniable right to cast their votes during every electoral season.
The Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, in fulfilling his civic duty as a citizen of the State cast his vote at Ward 3, Islamic Primary School, Ibarapa at the Ibarapa Local Government Area of the State in the ongoing Local Government election which is being conducted by the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) as part of his commitment to sustain social impact in the State.
As the local government election holds across all the 33 LGAs in the state, the Commissioner, Hon. Seun Fakorede , whose wedding ceremony also takes place today, May 22nd, 2021, got to the polling unit at 9:30am and cast his vote at exactly around 9:37am.
It should be recalled that OYOMIND had earlier reported about the Commissioner’s post on social media, hinting the public on his plan to officially get married to his fiancée who’s from the Eastern part of the country.
Speaking at the polling unit, the Commissioner expressed his happiness towards the level of peace maintained by the electorate in the region despite the fact that there were no heavy roadblocks or presence of armed security personnel.
“This Election is a free and fair one, I wish all the elections in Nigeria should always be like this“ he added.
