It’s exactly one year a group of irate youth besieged Oyo State Government Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan with a lifeless body of a hefty man called Rahamon. The wrathful youth of an Iwo Road Shopping Complex stormed the premises to deposit the corpse to the Governor’s Office.
The usual quietness and orderliness of the complex was put to a halt till late hours of the mournful day as different types of destructive objects were brandished by the outraged protesters towards the Governor’s Office.
Sequel to the anomaly, security presence in the complex was immediately tightened up with the reinforcement of the men of Operation Burst hindering the movement of the ballistic youth from gaining entrance into the Governor’s Office with the remains of the late Rahamon dangling on one of them shoulder.
The incensed men lamented the wanton killing of their man and narrated how they were allegedly attacked and maimed by some renowned and identified operatives of the State Park Management System. They claimed to have a deluge of video footages to establish their allegations.
The uneasy calm forced many aides of the Governor to rush out in guise of attending to the matter while the Governor (Seyi Makinde) himself was driven out of the office through the Secretariat’s second gate (Fire) on the fateful day. While placating the inflamed mourners, one of the Governor’s aides dispatched an instruction to a security team to hurry down to the Omi Tuntun House, Iwo Road to condone off any possible attack on the building.
The deluge of heartwrenching videos of how the most notable man of the PMS and his maverick lieutenants unleashed mayhem on the vulnerable traders and commuters at Iwo Road commercial end onward became awash across many social media platforms.
Governor Seyi Makinde in yielding to the public outcry visited the scene, condoled the bereaved family of the slain Rahamon, empathized with the traders who lost their wares to the fracas and promised to get to the root of the matter. It is exactly one year today another promising soul was cut short by men of Road Workers, has late RAHAMON AZEEZ got the justice?
