Ex-Student Leader, Aare Alao Olalekan Commences Distribution of Cash Grant in Ona-Ara LG

A former national president of the Federation of Ibadan Students’ Union (FIBSU) and the Special Assistant to Ona Ara Local Government Chairman, Aare Alao Olalekan has commenced distribution of cash grant in Ona Ara local government.

The empowerment which is the maiden edition is targeted at Youths and Women in Ward 06 held at Community Primary School, Oloba in Ona-Ara Local Government.

Alao, while presenting the cash to the beneficiaries expressed that not all residents of the council will have access to the governor and the local government chairman and that is why he took it as a duty to be the face of the government at the local level.

The former student leader who believes that politics is local and to whom much is given, much is expected. So people of the grassroots much be reached out to, to ensure that the re-election bid of Governor Seyi Makinde’s is well preached to the people.

According to him, the amount he receives as salary doesn’t matter but the impact he can make and several people that smile are put on their faces.

He said “Not everybody has access to meet Governor or Council Chairman, but I have volunteered myself to be their face at all angles.

“We all strived and work hard in bringing this government into power. The essence of my appointment is to make sure the efforts of our people didn’t go in vain, the era of Monkey dey work baboon dey shop has came to an end, we need to benefit from the goodies together as well. The amount I received as an appointee doesn’t matter but the number of people I’m able to put a smile on their face matter most.

“To whom much is given, much is also expected. I have started this and it will continue by God’s Grace as we have numbers of aged and windows in this ward that also deserve our Cash Grant to boost their business.

“We must all try our possible best in canvassing and mobilizing for the continuity of this masses-oriented government, in making sure that Governor Seyi Makinde’s reelection is certain.”

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr. Aderibigbe Abass appreciated the kind gesture of Aare Alao towards him and others in ward 06 of Ona Ara local government.

“This is surprising and massive to a lot of us who have been active in the local government politics for a while. I want to, on behalf of myself and other beneficiaries appreciate Aare Alao for this wonderful initiative and kind gesture towards us, we are grateful” he said.
