The Oyo state Governor Seyi Makinde has approved the release of one billion naira for former members and the sacked members of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria, ALGON, Oyo state following pronouncement of victory by the Supreme Court.
Following the ALGON’s victory, the Supreme Court has ordered the Oyo state Government to pay the Local Government sum of N4,874,889,425.60.
The Makinde led Administration has agreed and approved the sum of N1 billion naira payment as first instalment of the payment while the balance would be paid based on the financial situation of the local Government’s Authority.
In a letter dated, 21st of December obtained, the payment is in line with the position of the Ministry of Justice that the total and final payment due to the judgement creditors as their salaries and allowances as ordered by the Supreme Court, having excluded the Pay As You Earn.
