Agboke to Speak on Tax Reforms as BEEMC Hosts First 2026 Ramadan Lecture

The Bodija Estates and Environs Muslim Community (BEEMC) will on Sunday hold its first Ramadan lecture for 2026, with discussions focusing on Nigeria’s tax reforms and their alignment with Islamic economic principles.

The event, which doubles as the 18th Prof. L.A.B. Balogun Memorial Lecture, is scheduled for February 22, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.

Dr. Mutiu Agboke, is billed to deliver a lecture titled “Islam and Nigeria Economy: The New Tax Laws & Islamic Perspective.” The presentation is expected to examine contemporary fiscal policies through the lens of Islamic teachings, particularly on economic principles, fairness and social responsibility in wealth distribution.

The lecture is hosted by Alhaji (Chief) and Chief Mrs. W.A. Alli in conjunction with the BEEMC Youth Wing, while the member representing Ibadan Southwest/Northwest Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Alhaji (Hon.) Dhikrullahi Adedeji Olajide, will serve as chairman.

Among dignitaries expected at the lecture are High Chief (Sen.) Sharafadeen Alli and Alhaji (Prince) Kitibi Oyawoye as Fathers of the Day, while Alhaja H.A. Philips-Olawore and Alhaja Afsat ‘Yinka O.O. Bello will serve as Mothers of the Day.

Special guests of honour include Alhaji Mudashiru Kamorudeen Oladimeji, Engr. Kunmi Ajisafe, Alhaji Bukola Salami, Mr. Lukman Adeyinka Okunade, Hon. Bashiru Olumuyiwa Alade (Chairman, Atisbo Local Government), Alhaji Ibrahim Akintayo (Chairman, Ibadan North-East Local Government), Alhaji Kolawole Afolabi Asimiyu, Alhaji Salam Oyinlola Habeeb, Mr. Ajibola B. Abudu, Alhaji Afeez Suberu, Mr. Sangogbade Ajiboye Akande, Alhaji and Alhaja K.T. Giwa, and Alhaji Yusuf Tunji Ogunrinde (SAN).

According to the Chairman, Bodija Estates and Environs Muslim Community (BEEMC), Aare Isiaka Abiola Olagunju SAN, “the annual Ramadan lecture is designed to provide moral guidance and offer faith-based perspectives on contemporary socio-economic issues, with emphasis on responsible citizenship and national development.”
