Again, UI Students Shine At Huawei ICT Competition

UI VC RACE: Four Ibadan Indigenes, 14 Others In Rivalry Over the Post

Students of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, University of Ibadan, have clinched second position at the regional final of the Huawei ICT competition.

This was made known through a release by the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Abel Idowu Olayinka, on Friday, 18th September 2020.

The students include; Badiru Toheeb Adeniyi (186272), Abideen Bolaji Olaide (186170), and
Olubiyi Sulaiman Damilare (192845) who are 500 level students of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, University of Ibadan.

They came second at the Southern Africa Regional final after scaling through the National stage, coming first at the National Final.

According to the release: “Sequel to our participation in the Huawei ICT competition winning the national final and getting a chance to represent Nigeria in the regional final which was supposed to be held in March earlier this year in south Africa but got suspended because of the corona virus pandemic.

“Eventually Sir, the regional final was held last week through an online conference where we participated and got the second position in the southern African region and will get a chance as one of the teams to represent the region in the global final which will be held later this year in China.”

While congratulating the students, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olayinka, said; “We will continue to celebrate you guys. Another reason to confirm that UI is not underperforming. Thank you for making us proud and walk tall(er). If it is from Ibadan, it must be of outstanding quality.”
