A foremost APC group in Oyo state, The Progressives Mind Group has drummed their support for Oloye Adebayo Adelabu Penkelemesi on his emergence as the Minister designate from Oyo State.
The Progressives Mind Group, in their recently released statement stated, “no one is more party disciplined and party oriented as Oloye Adelabu”.
“Adelabu has demonstrated support for the party over time since he joined the party after resigning his appointment as Deputy Governor of the CBN. He held the Party together before, during and after the 2019 election.
Despite Bayo Adelabu’s loss to the PDP candidate in 2019, the ministerial position was given to another person from Ogbomoso, the erstwhile Minister for Youth and Sports, Honourable Sunday Dare. Not even a board chairmanship nor membership position was given to him and he never complained in spite of his huge spending in supporting the party. In spite of all these, he continued to appeal to his teaming supporters in the party to keep calm and support whoever within the party given a Federal appointment.
The Party structure was hijacked in 2023 which led to Adelabu’s exit in order to prosecute his gubernatorial aspiration, having contested in the previous election. He however ensured that the National leader of the party was carried along in his decision. Let us all remember that people exited the Party in 2019 after grudges and conflicts with late Abiola Ajimobi and today, they are all back in the Party. Majority are even in the forefront of party administration while some even contested as candidates under the Party in the last election.
Experience, loyalty and dedication are what made Adelabu to clinch the ministerial position as he has been loyal to Tinubu’s camp while Folarin was loyal to Osinbajo’s camp during the process leading to the 2022 primary election. This was the main reason the party was hijacked from Bayo Adelabu.
The group reiterated that, “in terms of experience, no one comes close to Adelabu. In addition to being a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria, he is also an accomplished Banker rising to become the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
“The best action to engage in is to support Adelabu in order to lead the stairs to attain successful administration in both Federal and Oyo State”, the group reteirated.
