11 Years After, Oyo Govt. Celebrates Festival of Arts and Culture in Grand Style

Oyo State Government in a way to resuscitate and promote the rich cultural heritage of Yoruba has celebrated this year’s edition “Omituntun Pacesetter Festival of Arts and Culture” in grand style.

The even which held at Cultural Centre, Mokola, Ibadan has in attendance dignatories within and outside the state such as Aare Gani Adams, Senator Monsurat Sunmonu, Engr. Dotun Sanusi, Commisioner for Energy, Seun Ashamu amongst others.

At the well-coordinated program organized by Honourable Commissioner for Information Culture and Tourism, Dr. Wasiu Olatunbosun, all local government areas, and Local Development Council Areas (LCDAs) in the state were allowed to display their various cultures after which prizes were given to the best local governments with best performances.

In his welcome address, Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr. Wasiu Olatubosun said that the last time cultural festival was celebrated in the state was 11 years ago during the Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala administration, adding that it was held on a low scale unlike the elaborate one that the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde has introduced this year.

According to him, Engr Makinde has been taking pragmatic steps to promote the culture and tradition of the state and has brought the festival which he described as the first of its kind because he is a lover of culture.
